Time Printing
There is a great inheritance, such as natural resources and human’s culture that should be passed on future.
Some of them might be lost if it is left as it is.
DNP is working on preserving large amount of
information of vanishing natural resources (stones and wood etc…)
and cultural inheritance which is recorded on a gradual deteriorating material as data.
This exhibition reveals
“Edo-Komon”- traditional patterns that reflect people’s ideas –
and
MiDCiD”- Contemporary Japanese Patterns and Colors that is reconstruction of traditional Japanese pattern/ colours –
by printing them onto the space based on timeline.
History and Tradition are results of piling up every second, every moment. They have a depth as like a geological stratum.
The traditional“Edo Komon”is in the flow of time in the past.
The contemporary design“MiDCiD”is in the flow of time in the future. The timeline of various design will appear.
Our thoughts are passing on traditional ideas and historic concept to next generations through design that is connecting past and present with information.
地球上にある資源 人々が作ってきた伝統など
未来へと繋いでいきたい素晴らしいものがあります。
それらの中には放って置くと失われてしまうものもあります。
そんな中、もう採れなくなってしまう石や木などの資源や 劣化していく素材でしか残っていない伝統的なものなど膨大な情報をデータとして残していくという取り組みをDNP は行なっています。
今回の展示では 日本で昔から着物などに使われ、昔の人々の様々なアイディアが詰まった伝統的な柄である「江戸小紋」日本の伝統的な色彩と文様を再構築して作られたデザインである「MiDCiD」を時間軸を元に空間にプリントしました。
歴史、伝統は一秒一秒、一刻一刻の時の重なりの中に作られ それらは蓄積され地層のように厚みのあるものになります。
重なり合い奥行きがある時間の流れの中で見えてくる、歴史ある江戸小紋。
未来へとこれから築いて行く時間の流れの中に見えてくる、MIDCiD。
散りばめられた様々なデザインの時間軸が見えてきます。
過去と現代が情報によって繋がり、 歴史ある伝統が持つアイディアや概念をデザインによって、次の世代へ更にその次の世代へと繋いでいきたいという思いを込めました。
